Sports Application

TV Messenger currently provides sports data for Major League Baseball, USA and college football, USA Hockey, and US Basketball. Current standings may be reported by leagues, and prior and future games can be reported for given teams or in some cases for specific teams playing against each other. A list of team names are provided to select from as well as over what period of time the information should be display, from how may days ago to how many days in the future. Optionally the full team names or abbreviations may be specified to be displayed as well as the name of the stadium at which they are playing or its city. In some cases, the day of the week a game is played may optionally be displayed or the date of the game. The options vary from one sport to the next but are all shown when configuring the report. For completed games the name of the winning team in a match is reported in UPPER CASE along with their score, while the losing team name is reported in lower case. Where a game has not yet been played the names are in lower case without scores. In some cases, if a game is in progress, the period they are currently playing is displayed. For standings , the system will report the top 5 or 10 teams according to which report is selected. For games with conferences or divisions, such as Hockey (Eastern Conference/Western Conference, Atlantic Division/Central Division), standing by conference/division can be selected. Data for prior years may also be selected.
